The last few weeks have been all about scapes for us. For those who don’t know, Garlic Scapes are the “flower stalks” of the garlic plant. In season for only about three weeks, they are a rare commodity. Mr. D bought out all the scapes last weekend at the farmers market. Kind of embarrassing.
We made some delicious pesto and used it on a grilled pizza with fresh mozzarella.




We pickled the top of the scapes and have been using the pickled scapes on meat and pork.



Mr. D and I have been doing a lot of bike riding lately to the market or down the river. But my bike (an inherited cruiser from my brother-in-law) just isn’t cutting it these days. A basket to carry some groceries or Watson is a must.
